The ones I've seen for Home Depot generally aren't good, but then again, I don't live in your area. Generally they don't have quite as low of a tds...but sure they would work. If you want to go this route, then make sure to purchase an inline DI...it's cheap and totally worth it.

I bought mine from air water ice over two years ago. I am very happy with it and I did purchase the a reserve tank so I could use it for drinking water as well. Great investment!

u shouldnt drink it if you run the DI side.

easy to hook up. the pressure gauge and the flush kit make for nice additions. a nice side note the actual filters like the carbon cartridge are made in the usa and inexpensive not a bad plus in these economic times

Yeah, I've heard it's bad for you...in any case I dislike the taste of it. I have a bypass valve so I get RO for drinking water. I love the taste of RO from my unit. It's way better than any bottled water that I've ever had.
