devilboy i've got that test kit (don't use it anymore) and my ammonia test kit does the same thing. on 2 occasions i took a water sample to my lfs and both times it was 0.

I too have this kit.. Nitrates were thru the roof, or so I thought.. Took h2o into the LFS and nitrates arent as high as "that" test showed. I personally, now, visit this place called "the reef" here in indianapolis frequently and bring my water in everytime. Just to make sure my test is ok, but like i said so far nitrates were inaccurate> Everything else, Aok, so far..

i like my salifert test kits, IMO they're a lot better than the test kit in the picture above. i bought them to replace that test kit. it's a good beginner test kit and i got a lot of use out of it; it was just time for me to move on. my lfs uses the kind that comes in little individually sealed tablets, not sure what brand that is but the guy who runs the place definetly knows what he's doing and the test kits are usually right on with mine.

I use Salifert tests. I used to use and still have a Red Sea Master test set, but I had/have a horrible time telling the color shadings apart. I have a much better time with Salifert tests. Plus, they are very accurate.

That's the one I use as well. Everything is fine, but my nitrates always came out high with the kit. But after taking a sample to LFS, they were not as high as the kit said.
But overall easy to use and fairly accurate.
