gorgonia possible problem

i got a gorgonia on a piece of live rock about 4-5 months ago. the thing looks like a bluish purplish stick standing straight up with these frilly things sticking out of it everywhere. well it is doing great except the last couple days it started bending almost at a 90 degree angle, but is not dieing and the frilly things still come out of the gorgonia all over. does anyone know why it is doing this?

The skeletons of gorgonians are kinda hard, aren't they? Is it broken at the point where it is bending? Do you see any sign of atrophy or disease at all?

Is is going towards or away from the light? I had one just like you are talking about that started to go into the light.

Do you know what kind of gorgonian it is? From your description, these two came to mind. Not the best pics but maybe it'll help. I agree with the others in checking if its a powerhead thing because they do have skeletons which although bendable, will stand erect if nothing is weighting the tips or possibly blowing it over. Do you have a pic of whats happening? This would help determine the cause quite a bit.

it is bending away from the light, there is no sign of breaking at all, i did move it to a higher position in the tank though.

Well that might be that cause, but honestly I've never heard of a gorgonian bending to or away from anything. Like stony corals they do have a skeleton, its just made out of a little different stuff. Makes me wonder what this is. I'll do a little research and get back to you.

Place it lower in the tank with little light and a decent water flow. Here;s mine. Sorta tucked away from direct light.
