Gorgonian ?

I just received a yelloe gorgonian, and it has a rock attached to it. I need to know if I should put it up on another rock, or if I can just set it on the sand.

it should be in an area if high flow. take a picture of it. some of them are photosynthetic, and some aren't.

That's diodogorgia nodulifera - non-photosynthetic and not very easy to keep. To keep it healthy, you will need to place it in pretty high flow, keep algea from overgrowing it (by brushing it off, keeping it in subdued lighting, etc), and feed it LOTS of zooplankton. Diodogorgia have fairly large polyps, so prey somewhere around 300-800 microns will do well.

this one was suggested to me by the site, because it wasn't supposed to be that hard....well I have it in front of a koralia, and I will be picking up some liquid food tomorrow. All I can do is watch for algae growth, and put the right stuff in the water for it.
