depends on the college dude, if you graduate from a military academy, either the citadel, west point, anapolis, airforce academy, norwich, they all give rings, not sure about normal colleges though

maybe thats just the price of rock when you buy alot of it. One place by me charges 13 bucks a pound and 8 a pound for rubble while others give it to you for 6 bucks a pound when you buy 10 pounds of it, and they throw in some rubble for free. Its both the same exact rock too. Most lfs are just looking to rip you off. the 13 dollar a pound live rock place sells 4 inch lunare wrasses for 60 and the 6 dollar place sold me one for 18 bucks. I dont really go to the first lfs anymore.

Most sane people on the planet Earth would say $6.74 for a box of rocks would qualify you for the nut hut. However you paid $6.74 for a box of wet rocks with some bacteria ,a few assorted critters and more than likely some nuisance algae.I would say that sounds about the right price to me.
$6 plus a pound for Live Rock no matter how you try and justify it is insane and a rip off IMO.

Wow... When I graduated all I got was a $40,000 piece of paper! At any rate...People seem to be confused...
He paid $6.74 for all 50 pounds...Not per pound... and who the heck charges $13 bucks a pound??? If thats true you need a new LFS.

Wow, I am really surprised at some people's reaction to stealing. One thing that no one takes into account when it comes to business is operating expenses and what it truly cost to run a business. If they mark up their products whatever percentage that is their choice and they rightfully should since they need to keep their doors open. These business' spend their own money for inventory and services for us "consumers" to spend our money on. That is the convenience to having a local business and they usually bend backwards to get specialty products in. I purchase items like anyone else and do pay a profit.
Now for this live rock purchase, it was well known he was purchasing a certain amount and what it was going to cost him. Now when he goes to pay and lets the cashier ring up the incorrect amount, it is STEALING! So, if things where turned around and he was selling something and the person shorts him by $300, he would be crying the blues.

ive worked in business, ive run several businesses, including a multi-million dollar business for a year and a half, i know exactly what marks are and if I, me personally, were to

[hr]
up an sell a customer something for the wrong price, we ATE that loss, no big deal, i got chewed out a lil bit by the big boss, an things went on their merry way
so, what im saying is this, if he got it for that price, then, honestly, he should be counting his blessings, now if its a mom and pop store, yes, call them and tell them, they will greatly appreciate the honesty, if its a corporate store, they could care less about the honesty of a customer, they will give him a thank you, maybe a pat on the head, an then hang up the phone
so, in review, he got a helluva deal, an he should be thankful
