Got a trigger

Well, I didn't want a trigger at first. I wanted a couple of tangs, a flame angel, some others. But when I went to my LFS, he had a huma with suck great colors, I had to buy it. He took back my cleaner shrimp, and gave me full credit toward a dogface puffer. He said these two will get along. Will they? They are both beautiful fish, but if they will not get along, the puffer will have to go back.

There has been alot of talk about putting a trigger and puffer together, I have done it for a year and a half with no problems but they are in my 125 with only a snowflake eel, so they have plenty of room. I also started them off as very small. What size tank is it? that will help determine if it will work, Good Luck

Well, right now they are in a 40. Before everyone gets up in arms, I was going to put them in a bigger tank, but I changed my mind about the size. I decided I like this hobby enough to sell my motorcycle and get a tank at least 250 or better. Both fish are babies, and they get along great. I was going to buy a 75, but I think down the road I will want a bigger tank, so why waste money, right?

I have a porcupine puffer, spiney box puffer, niger trigger, and a fox face. All get along fine. The fox face will actually steal food out of the puffers mouthes!!!

i do agree, you really should get the biggest tank you can and can afford, why keep buying, if you have the space and means to do so, you are only gonna do it later, i am sure, because, we all say we'll get this it'll be fine(and then later look for another), but few of us actually can go out and get a tank like that right off the bat, you would be one of the fortunate few,
BUT, LOL, you will may sitill someday say, honey, how about......., it is just too addicting, getting a tank like that will certainly slow down the upgrade itchyness, alot, going from a 40 to a 250, will tak eyou along time (years) to actually set up the way you want
the only thing i don't agree with is your statement"waste the money", i do understand your logic, and what you mean, and actually agree, but i hate that word "waste", LOL(i think)

By waste, I mean buying a tank that I know will not be big enough for me. I can get the big tank right off the bat instead of tieing up money on smaller ones. Getting rid of the motorcycle will get me the tanks I want, and hopefully I will live a little longer. :D

As an update, the fish get along fine, but I have to hand feed them, or they tear the food up fighting over it, and nobody eats. I also found their new home, a clarity plus 180 flat back hex. I know, what exactly is a flatback hex, it's not a hex if it has a flat back, but it is a cool tank, with enough room for a few more fish.

iknow some one who has kept a huma trigger and porcupine puffer in the same tank and they all got along but the trigger might steel the puffers food
