So some idiot ran a stop sign today and nailed my car this morning.
its not totally horrible but man its ugly. really sucked because it was 30 degrees down here this a.m. i didn't have a jacket(left it at work yesterday)and had to wait for the friggin popos to show up. insurance guy is coming by tomorrow to check it out and i am soooooooooo hoping he will cut me a check. i have absolutely nothing going on this weekend and can deal w/ not having my car. ok-well, superbowl. but besides that i'm just coming off a week of being on call and usually just catch up on sleep and laundry. this lady should be so happy it was cold this morning because i couldn't concentrate on anything else. uuuggghhh. i'm going to buffalo wild wings to drink a beer and destress. hope all your days were better than mine.

i'm gonna bet $2700 in damages...
is the car drivable? do you have payments on the car? if so... i know my car company had basically a lein on my car while i had payments, and any damage HAD to be fixed.

yeah it still hauls booty. as long as i make the payments i don't think my bank cares what it looks like. lol. I got a quote at lunch it's going to be 1,200 but i'm not paying for it, she is or well her insurance is.

so if they are paying for the damages to get repaired, why would you get a check? and why didn't you go to THE most expensive auto body repair shop and get an estimate, then go to this place to get it fixed? 1200 seems really really low...they should be R&R the door, sanding it down, repainting, etc.

When we got hit last summer, I just took the car to the other person's insurance office for photos and took the car to the best body shop in town for estimate. 3 days later I received a check from their insurance company (Farm Bureau.. supposedly one of the best insurance companies to work with when a claim is in question).
2 yrs ago similar thing, I got rear ended on the Interstate and 2 weeks later I received a check from the other party's insurance company.
In both cases I didn't contact my company and have them go after the other party. I filed a claim against the other party. If I had gone through my company, I would have had to pay for the deductable and then wait to get it back.

well most send an insurance guy out and they estimate the amount of damage to your car. they write you a check for that amount and you take it to whomever you want to do the repairs. all they really pay is their deductible. they are sanding down the body, bondo, & paint.

i dunno...
i prefer to deal with my own insurance company, bring it to a respectible shop, let the insurance company pay the shop direct minus my deductible, and wait for the deductible to come back. that way i KNOW the other person's insurance company isn't lowballing the estimate, there's no hidden repairs that the adjuster didn't see and won't pay for afterwards, and there's no temptation to put that check into my pocket instead of fixing the car.
body shops must be insanely cheap down in texas... you'd be looking seriously at $2700+ up here in CT. it was $1100 just to replace a headlight and fix a dent/scratch in my truck's passenger side front quarterpanel.

things are a lot cheaper down here. why do you think all the old people move down here after retiring!
i'd rather not deal w/ my ins. company(state farm) because i don't want my rates going up. even though it wasn't my fault if i make a claim they will still go up. I've also had a company lowball me the body shop contacted the agent and they wrote another check for the difference. but i'm kinda hoping that they will let me take my car to the shop of my choice, my uncle just told me he has a friend at ford that can overestimate the damage fix the car for a lot cheaper and i'm really not into this and i feel kina bad for thinking about doing it but...... i could use about 20lbs of lr in my 24 and a skimmer in my 65. bad. bad. bad.

yea i know it was supposed to be sarcastic. i'm not going to that's why rates are so high now! i forget the voice in my head doesn't play out loud when people read what i type. i have a big conscience and what goes around comes around. i think this is payback for telling a lady to move at the grocery store. ok well i said" could u and all your kids please move out of the way, others are trying to get into the store!" but she had like five kids w/ her trying to put all of them in a cart. seriously? where are you supposed to put the friggin groceries?jk.

so my car just got out of the body shop. only took three days to get everything done. yay! they rocked it out. looks sooo good. butttttttttttttttttttttttt... while it was there they flooded the engine. told them don't worry about it, tow it to mazda when your done. that got done fri
@ 3pm. i was told they would work on it sat. i knew that it would probably be mon before it was done. i stayed home sick today w/ a migraine. i felt better about 4:30pm and moved to the couch. i realized that i hadn't heard from the mazda dealership so i called...... i'm getting a new engine!!!!!!! whoa. i don't know wth happened to my car but man, another two weeks w/o my car. i'm still not sure if this is good or bad. ive done some reading and apparently mazda r&d will swap engines to get hands on w/ certain problems and fix in future models. the compression ratio was under specs also in 2 cylinders. bummed.

We had a really bad experience with them, they wouldn't replace a bumper with a new part, since there was no aftermarket part. And made us use a junk yard part. It was stupid.

1100 bucks is pretty dang cheap, must of just been a paint job. Either that or one of those oriental body shops. How did they flood your engine?

you can't turn a rotary engine off cold. i'm thinking that they moved it out of the shop in the morning and parked it. then 20 min later tried to start it again. they never really said what they did specifically. i'm just glad i'm still under warranty or i'd be really stressed out.
oh and its not oriental- this is texas- latino body shop (i am native indian/mexican by the way) you don't even want to know the amount i paid. hehe. i'll have a little left over after i get a new rim, tire, and alignment.
