A big day for my tank today! It finished cycling yesturday so I did a 22% water change today (28 gals) with aged SW. I took some of the old water and used it to start my Q tank. Ive had the element from the HOB filter for the Q submerged in the sump of the main tank for a couple weeks now. I also added 2 cups of sand from the main tank to the Q to help it out and 2 pvc cutoffs for hiding places. I threw in 2 damsels to check it out. If all goes well in a week there will be no ammonia spike and then I can bring the damsels back to the LFS and get some keeper fish in there! I also added the first inhabs to the main tank: 22 astria snails & 12 redlegged hermits. Like I said " i have my fingers crossed " that all goes as planned!!!

ps - FYI the Q tank is a 10gal "starter kit" special from pet supermarket I got for 20 bucks.......what the h_ll right? It came with tank HOB filter and water treatment stuff ( that I will never use..I promise) and some flake food.

i can't wait till I get my first 100 gallon tank or bigger. So much space I won't be able to contain myself :)
yours looks great, props on the aqua scaping!
make sure you remember that once those damsels go in they aren't coming out again

Thanks everyone!
Psycoskater - I have been going to Ocean Environments in Ft myers. I checked out The coral reef though the other day. Its a pretty nice store too, I was impressed by the variety they have there. I bought an assortment of macros from them. Nice people also. Good prices on some stuff & not so good on other stuff. just like any other lfs as far as pricing goes I guess...

BTW - lionstorm, the Damsels are just to "test run" my Q tank. They are going back to the lfs after im done with them, never in the Disp tank!
Thanks for reminding me though...my s/o likes them & wants to keep them b/c she has no clue what really cool fish are out there yet! No way will they stay though!

Why can't the Damsels go into your display tank. I have 1 Domino Damsel and it seams nothing is wrong? Just wondering.
Thanks

The damsels would be very aggressive towards their future tank mates. They would very likely bully the other fish in the tank. There is really nothing wrong with them other then that. HTH.
