I got 50 lbs of FA LR today and I have heard the hipe about how great it was.Well.....let me just say,,,HOLY TOLEDO!!!!!
Woooooo Hoooooo and all that. This rock is simply awesome. Before I even pulled one peice from the bag, I was catching tiny brittle stars, scoopin up baby crabs, and just in disbelief of the amount of coral and sponges I could see. I will post some pics if anyone would like...
BUT.....I have to post this one now. These were found in the bottom of the bag dead(thank gawddd).I know..theres probably more.
In life we take the bad with the good.
The rocks were covered with red/orange/black/purpleish sponges.Feather dusters everywhere, and I have a few "unidentified inhabitants" I`m sure I`ll need some I.D. on. Letting my tank settle a bit before pics.
Again, unbelieveable difference in Fiji rock and this stuff.
This stuff is SHIPPED IN WATER W/OXYGEN...no dieoff:D
I ADDED PICS DOWN BELOW!!!!

Too bad the peacock mantis was dead. :( I would have gladly taken him off your hands. They are really cool critters and interesting additions to your species specific tank or refugium. If you find any more, let me know!

Yeah Sheree,
You gotta love the rock. I have the same stuff. You were lucky to get the mantises (manti?) out before putting the rock in. I was not so lucky.

Yep..I can only assume there will be more mantis in my rock. 1 adult, 1 baby...gotta be more. I`ll have those pics real soon-today. After studying this rock for hours last night, I see alot of small barnacles, a couple rock anemones/aptasia(not sure which-coloration green and yellow).
There are some HUGE sponges, some very cool formations of rock.....oh crap,,brb...taking pics :)

Hi Slothy--I live about 25 or 30 miles (or thereabouts) west of Cleveland not far south of the lake. I have a few mantis shrimp in my refugium, but no peacock mantis which I would love to have. It is a crying shame the one Sheree got was dead. What a bummer. If you are ever going to be in my neck of the woods, let me know. I'll take the mantis off your hands!
I have one that is a florescent green color with red claws (or whatever those things are up front). Cool looking and smart little fella. The other one is maroon with 2 rows of white dots down his back.

There were about a dozen tiny stars in the 50lbs of rock.
Several of those hairy wormy things(which stick out a flowery looking "head").
