gravel vs. sand

I have a small tank that is going to become saltwater...I have gravel in it and am wondering if I HAVE to get sand/crushed coral.

i would say that you SHOULD get sand or crush coral cause sand would have all these minerals that freshwater have and if you put gravel the minerals are gonna get in the saltwater and it will be a problem.

you can have bare bottom you know.you dont have to get sand yet

Or nearly bare bottom. My coral dealers show tanks have just enough argonite to cover the glass bottom and then quite a bit of LR.

ok, thanks! I think I'll go with a bare bottom tank until I can get to the lfs.
