I heard recently that this guy wasn't even actually homeless, he apparently has an apartment in his name and receives social security payments.

Those must have been some nice boots to cost $100, I hope the guy got some decent money back for them.

He may just run around barefooted to help with a panhandling angle. I've come to the conclusion it's best never to give these people anything. Give the money to a good shelter instead. They are best at getting the help to those who want and deserve it. There used to be a guy that passed himself off as a homeless vet that panhandled at a mall all the time. One morning I had stopped into a BK for a tasty breakfast bagel and while waiting in the drive through watched the guy get out of a car he parked at the KFC across the street from the mall where he panhandled. He grabbed a duffel bag from the trunk and walked over to the mall and set up camp.
