green algae on glass???

I have a 110 gallon tank. I keep getting this green film of algae on the glass on the front of my tank. I have to clean it off every day or it looks horrible. My question what is causing it? I use RO/DI water, with carbon in a filter sock in my wet/dry filter. Carbon is changed out every week. I also keep phosban in a filter sock and in the back of my wet/dry as well. That is changed out every week also. I have cleaned the filter and my skimmer out 2 weeks ago. I have a octopus HOB( forgot the model number). I have Nova extrem pro T5HO lights that are only on 8 hours a day. I do 20% water changes every week. Someone please help me out here I have no idea anymore.
PARAMS AS OF TODAY:
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
PH-8.3
Phosphate-0
temp-stable at 80
Calcium-480
ALK- 4.0 meql
SG-35PPT
I do not have a magnisium test kit, But I don't think that is the problem. my RO/DI TDS is 0 on the output side.

its all part of the maintanance
you will always have it,i hate the green stuff that is hard as concrete
need to razor scrape that stuff.
just get a nice magnet cleaner and once a day clean it.
as long as it isnt hair it is normal.

it is not hair algae. I have a magnet scraper. It is not hard at all. When I scrape it off it is like a powder. I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong. Thank for your help.

Have you ever tried dosing a carbon source such as vinegar, sugar or vodka. ?
having a carbon source for other nutrients to use will and cure a lot of algae trouble. I NEVER clean my glass on one of the reef tanks I have, do to dosing sugar. don't have to. I would get your nitrate re-checked. seems real odd you are getting a zero reading. po4 I can understand not getting a reading but nitrate will show up with algae growth.

Algae on the front glass is normal, it swipes right off with a magnet eraser.
Dosing is complicated and dangerous if you don't know exactly what you are doing, and a person who is so new he isn't sure of what is on the front glass shouldn't even contemplate it.
The hard green stuff like concrete is coraline algae, a sign of a healthy tank.

i like when i am using the magnet to clean the glass my trigger follows it everywhere.i go up and down ,side to side and he watches like using a ball playing with a dog.
he's a trip.

you can try and add some powerheads to keep the water moving to cut down the build up a little but otherwise i think most of all just have to clean our tanks. just part of the hobby

coastie81...are you still located in P.R.? Just wondering..because I read an old post of yours, on how nobody would ship to P.R. Did you ever get to find someone who was willing...just asking because I find myself in the same situtation.
