green algae????

ive got some green algae growing on some of my skimmer pump and glass is there any way to get rid of? ive already put my clean up crew in the tank but i dont know how to get it off the other stuff

Can you turn your skimmer off and remove the pump? If so, just pull it out and scrub it off with a sponge or brush. If not, you can reach in and do the same thing. I just use an aquarium safe sponge (one with no dyes or perfumes). If the pump is bad, you may want to give it a freshwater dip, which will actually explode the algae cells. On the glass, all you can use is elbow grease.

Depends on how new your tank is, and how well you stabilize the water chemistry. If its a new tank, you can probably expect to see the growth return for awhile, until the "cycle" completes and the tank actually stabilizes. If its an established tank, you need to look for the source of nutrients and eliminate it, which will eliminate the algae growth. Coralline in a healthy tank will eventually replace most of the nusience (sp) algaes, but they can still show up when temp, light, and water chemistry is off. Hope that helps
