I am worried about puttiing him that low in the tank.....90 gallon 260w coralife.....up in the rocks....or down in sand, what would be better?

I say in the sand. He will stretch out quite a bit to maximize the light available to him so make sure there is plenty of room. Place him as close to the center of the tank as you can to maximize the amount of light available and you should be fine.
They do much better over time if they are placed in sand.

It's been my experience they do better on the sandbed. Try it there first and keep an eye on it. :D

Mainly, it won't open or expand as much, or as often if it's not happy where it is. The colors may not be as bright also. :D

I am thinking of getting more light, but trying to figure out how to do it and keep what I have already....coralife aqualight 260w in the 90...just worried cause deep tank too

I have 3 closed - all in sand, under MH. Sand is preffered for them - if they are on the rocks, there is the danger of ripping the flesh when inflating. The possibilty of a fall and damaging the flesh is another reason. As for what light requirments they need......I really dont know........

thanks for answering. I am going to try and move it down and just see how it does. I am also going to probably give in for better lights soon.
