Green Brittle Star reef w/fish?

Hiding is normal, very normal. How did you acclimate them? They are sensitive to water temp, ph, and salinity, so I hope you took your time with that. Mine will scavenger feed on brine floating by, and I hand feed them3-5(maybe too much?) times a week with silver sides, or a chunk of shrimp. Being that you are new to saltwater I have to ask. How long has you tank been set up, and what are your readings?

I have a strange question.
When I put my brittle into the tank, which was over a year ago and he is fine now, I acclimated him with great care. I used a drip system that basically took two to three hours. When I put him into the tank, he exerted a great deal of pinkish stuff. Kind of like he had regurgitated everything he recently ate.
I thought for sure that was a bad sign and he would die, but I never had a problem.

It is quite possible he did that. I mean, being nervous in new surroundings and all, performance anxiety, new pals, have to find a new place to live...etc. Didn't anyone watch American Idol last night? :D What matters is that it is happy and healthy now!
It may have also spawned, which is often a stress response too. I have a colleague who tried desperately to get some brittlestars to spawn, because he wanted to study the development. He tried everything...cold shock, light shock, champagne, caviar (so he said)...but it took a ride in the back of his car to get any action going :D ;) Must have been all the shaking. Kinda like those 'magic finger beds' in, er, questionable hotels. ;)
Kind of an unrelatd story, but one of my favorites. Not good for my website though ;)
