Sometimes they pop off easily, sometimes they are really attached. Try not to pop it. If you do, it's not the end of the world. I've popped many trying to carefully pull them off. I have heard it suggested to siphon water in the area of the bubble while you're pulling it off, just in case it pops. That way it will siphon the spores. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I finally, just now, used a larger diameter tube than the bubble, placed it over the buble, started a siphon, then popped it aff using the tube...I can only hope now that I didn't spread too darned many spores. This is the first time I have ever seen a bubble algae, but from so much reading and knowledge that is shared here, I knew exactly what it was when I saw it. Now if I could only figure how it got started!:notsure:

I have used this method with success...
Empty the insides of a cheap Bic pen until you just have the clear shell. Jam the aft end into some clear tubing (can't remember what diameter I used). That way you can poke the little

with the hollow pen tip and suck them up at the same time. This works great, and it makes a useful tool for other general precision tank cleaning. I think it was Bang Guy who posted this idea before (I could be mistaken though), just wanted to give credit where it was due!
