Could someone tell me why my perculas wont host my bubble tip? I got a second one because the first wouldnt go near the anemone. The LFS said the bubble tip would be a great combo.

It's a 50/50 chance that any anemone will host a clown. Sometimes it only takes a couple hours and sometimes it takes a couple months and sometimes they never do. It's up to the clown. It's been said that tank raised clowns take a little longer so be patient.

My clown fish feel in love with a flowerpot coral. I thought it would kill it but it got used to it and both were fine.

So far I have had 7 clownfish of 3 different species, maroon, ocellaris, and percula. I have never had one not host one of my btas. One pair took about a year, but eventaully they did host. I have heard from very seasoned vetrans (10 yrs +) experience that all clowns will entaully host, it is natural behavior. In the ocean once clownfish go through metamorphsis, they must find an unoccupied anemone to host or die. It is not learned, it is instinctive. I would advise you to be patient.
It has been documented that if the anemone is not the clowns natural host, it takes them a little longer to buld up resistance to the anemones sting but other than that they will usually accept a substitute eventaully.

My Tomato clown host my aquarium heater suction cup...lol
And when I had a Black & White clown, after awile,to my suprise, hosted a fake De'coral anemone.
Give them some time. As someone said,it is always a 50/50 chance with clowns and anemones.

clowns are weird...they wouldnt even look at my green bubble for the past month and a half..then the other night I had on blue moonlights and they started going in it..yet they still dont go in it with regular lights on. They seem to be in it more this morning as well. Its hit or miss and it could be months and not a single care then next min you look over and they are in it.
