anyone have any suggestions on the placement and care for green button polyps and sun corals? I have a 200 gallon tank with 200-250 lbs of live rock.

IMO not much care needed for the button polyps. They do need medium light. Mine catches extra food from the water when I feed the fish. I never feed them directly. The sun coral on the other hand is a bit more work. Place it in a area you can put a 1ltr bottle with the bootom cut out of it on top of the coral. You will need a turkey baster to pull food up in and squirt it in the bottle. You are doing this because each polyp will have to be feed. Do a search on sun corals and you will get more info.

it does not really matter where you put the sun coral in relation to light intensity...they are not photosynthetic. Just do as koolaid said (which BTW is a great idea to spot feed!) and it should do well. For the button polyps just place them anywhere in the tank that you do not mind if it gets taken over with the coral. Given the right conditions they will take over areas. I have seen a tank with zooanthids covering the entire glass area on the tank.
