I just bought 2 yesterday and nowones gone?I checked the filter, powerheads and the floor..nothing.
I have only 1 10lb liverock so theres really no place to hide.
could something could have killed it?
I have a small serpent star, and a three inch tomato clown, and 5 inch yellow tang, and maybe two inch striped brown hermit.
the chromis is/was 1 inch and a half, but the smaller one is still alive. thank again..... baffled?

I had a number of chromis a year ago and they would disappear every so often. My levels were fine. I could not find them either.
I had a green serpent star and had heard that they have been known to sometimes go after fish. I never saw it but he seemed to have a full belly. Maybe that is the prob. Anyone else heard of that?

I had a damsel that dissapeared and when I looked behind a rock the hermits and cleaner shrimp were eating it .They ate it down to the bones. All that was left was a skeleton.

I lost a green chromis, and a domino damsel in one night. I have never found them and that was six months ago. I had nothing else in the tank (no LR or decorations). Truly baffled.

If your "Chromis" was purple, it was probably a PseudoChromis, which is not the same fish as a Chromis. A Green Chromis is a damselfish. A Pseudochromis is not.
From ***********:
The color of the Purple Pseudochromis, also known as the Magenta Dottyback or Purple Dottyback, is best described as magenta.
A 30 gallon or larger aquarium should be provided. It may become aggressive towards other Pseudochromis or fish with similar body shapes. It is easy to keep in an aquarium when provided with numerous hiding places.

could have been just unhealthy fish. i think they are too fast of swimmers to have gotten caught by anything. i bought five blue/green chromis and one died and was being eaten by one of my pep. shrimp, all the others are alive and doing great. might have just been one of those things where they just didnt get acclimated the way the needed to be or something.
