I'm thinking about getting a few of them to school in my reef... I just saw 7 of them at *****. They were tiny and looked great except for one that had a spot on his tail that looked like ich so i didn't want to chance it in my tank, especially since i have a powder blue. but they are awesome looking fish!

personally i think a school of chromis add a degree of authenticity to reef setups. I got a school for my girlfriends tank, but one thing to know is they get big. Not too big but at least double-triple the size that you see them at the lfs. My girlfriends school has grown and gotten too big for her tank. Just so you know.

i love them and they are easy ot take care of, if they survive the moves to your tank, and are very peaceful
size wise, we got one tat is about adime sized and the others are about the size of a 50 cent piece

My girlfriend has a 30 gallon, and she had 7 chromis that all doubled in size. Taking up too much space in the tank. SInce they were the cheapest of her fish, they were the first to go as they grew.

Good to read this thread. I had planned on a mini-school of 4-5 of green chromis and a clown being the first fish in my new 55 gal. I wanted to get 5-6, but if they get much larger I don't want that to prevent me from being able to add others later (1-2 bangaii, jawfish, sixline, fire angel or coral beauty...)

i just see it as they arent worth getting unless you have a school, so make sure that you have enough room. Thats all. Plan accordingly.

I have had only three for a long time and I am planning on getting another three. I really do belive that 5 is a minimum for their mental health.
They are great fish who add allot of life to a reef tank. They will eat flake forever, but love brine shrimp.
I have one that's over three inches.
