i have three new green chromis, two are relativly the same size while one is only 3/4 the size of the the other two. the smaller one seems to have developed some light patches on its sides. now I am positive its not ick but i was wondering if there is anything that would cause these very faint light patches? or is this a normal trait for this fish?

that was my initial thought as well, for the most part no but once in awhile i see the larger of the two dart after him, but its not common but it does happen. at night when the lunar lights are on the two larger ones hang together and the smaller one goes into hiding til daybreak. he has done this from the instant he had been introduced to the tank. here is what i have in the tank
2 Black & White Percula Clownfish
2 Percula Clownfish
3 Green Chromis
its a 75 gallon tank so there is plenty of rockwork and room for all

Chromis are damsel fish. In numbers of 5 or more they will tend to school. In numbers between 2 and four, they will tend to act like their clownfish cousins and become agressive. You will probably end up with just 2 chromis, I'm sorry to say.

I have had 3 green chromis for several months and 2 seem to stay together one swims alone most of the time. I was thinking of adding 2 more, can I mix them with Blue Reef Chromis?

The lady that I bought the newly arrived Green Chromis had 3 together for awhile and now I have them. They swim together just fine! My other tank have 2 in there as well and I've had them since day 1, indestructible!!! The 3 Amigos just swims together and feeds together, even sleep in the same area together. They sleep near by the Bar Goby's Home, I have never seen my Bar Goby out so much for the past 6 month until these guys arrived.... :happyfish

I have 9 blue green reef chromis. I notice they get the discoloration at night. I'm not sure why but it happens alot, late at night. I'm used to it now...it always goes away during the day and/or after feeding.

The one that is getting discollored is probably the female. If she is a baby then she will not be interested in the males. The males on the other hand are always going to pester her. Most schooling fish like a larger group for more choices. You may want to add a couple more or she will just be harrassed, more so as they get older.
