green chromis wont eat

Bought 3 green chromis. Currently in quarantine for 3 days. They ate the first day, but now aren't eating. See no signs of sickness. Checked water params and I had ammonia at 1.0, 0 nitrite, 8.2 pH, and 40 ppm nitrate. I did a 20% water change and am still looking at ..50 on ammonia. I want to start hyposalinity but don't know whether or not with ammonia present. I have a hob carbon filter running and I changed both carbon pads in qt, and I also rinsed the black sponges. Am afraid I started a cycle.... any help would be appreciated greatly! Fire away with advice....

Cleaned the filter the day before my fish came in... water params were all 0 other than 80 ppm on nitrate. The sponges were disgusting so I rinsed with Ro. I knew better but thought it would help with the nitrate. I also have a choc chip starfish in that at tank.

Fish wont eat because your ammonia is to high. Gets yourself some Amqu+ or Prime. Dont do hypo with star in QT.
