I have one, he hid for the first few months but now he is always out and is quite the qharacter. I highly recommend picking one up

Will this Goby pair up with a Pistol Shrimp?

no they dont pair up with pistol shrimps.
I had one. He seemed to be doing well, eating and just one day found him dead. havent tried one since (and wont since they nest in acropora and damage it doing so)
he would host just about any coral. clownfish have nothing on these guys as far as hosting corals
