green coraline algae

hey guys. i got my 45lbs of ultra premium fiji about 3wks ago. i have been cleaning my lr and scrubbing it and doing 50% water changes weekly. i have also for the past 2wks been adding purple up a corline algae accelerator. i have not been running lights on the tank but they will be comming in this week and they are 150watt mhs. i have coraline algae but its not purple its green. could this be due to the fact that i have not been running lights on the tank? there are no fish its still cycling. thxs guys

normal. It will give way to purple after a while. Sometimes the green can be really bright...neon green almost.

I have heard of green corline algea, it is neat looking stuff, but Like said before it usually turns into the nice purple color

My corraline is different colors...perfectly normal. I have orange, green...2 different shades, pink, and purple. The purple is the fastest to grow, but once corraline has grown it will not be replaced by another color of corraline. So your green corraline is here to stay. I like the different colors. Now that you have some growing I would stop the purple up, can really mess with the alk, and calcium....get too high. Make sure you are checking the water perameters to not overdose.
FYI: too high of calcium or alk can make a tank crash really fast.

Ditto, I've got different shades of green, purple, red, orange. Really pretty. Growing each day with zero products just water changes.

This is not exactly true, I suppose if the green were to die off then the purple would take over. Enclosed is a picture of different colors of corralline all happily coexisting. The photo is recent, but the purple, pink and green corralline is almost 2 years old and not taking over one another. It is an algae plant persay, and will creep into and onto areas that have none, but not to the extent of wiping one or the other out. Mine seems to grow upwards, thicker, once it has taken over an area.
I recently added the rock above the mushrooms, so we will see who finds the new landscape fastest.

k sweet yea the purple up was voted 3yrs in a row for best aquariam additive. all params are a ok perfect actually. i never dose n e thing in my tanks but cal and phos.

I got different shades of green, purple, red, orange, and pink. It looks really nice.

i did another test today calcium is at 420 phosphate is 0 and salinity is 1.025. my nitrate and nitrite are high cuz lr is still curing but its going down every day they are abour .25 ammonia is also going down daily. ph is a solid 8.2-8.4

Your ammonia and nitrate will kill any corralline starting to grow, stop on the purple up and do a water change to try to get the perameters down. You have to remember that corralline although it is hard is still a type of algae, and needs good perameters in which to thrive in.

its been growing quite fine actually looking actually really noyce so far gonna do one last 50% water change cuz ive been curing the lr for about a month now. my buddy with a 1400gallon tank says hes gonna hook my --- up really good lol.

Purple up is just diluted calcium and iodine basically and has a tendency to throw your alk threw the roof, iodine should also be tested for as too much is deadly to many inverts. Coralline will grow naturally with decent light and good parameters especially calcium and alk. Eventually you will be complaining you can't get it off and it's growing everywhere (my problem). Green may be a lower light growing corraline, add your halides and watch the purple appear.

alright i willl stop dosing the tank. i checked everything and it was alright but ill stop and ill watch the purple appear before my eyes lol

I've had rock with blue, yellow green and two shades of purple on it. In the end it'll all turn to purple most likely. Unless you can actually prevent purple algae from getting in your tank.
