Anyone know a fish that will eat up hair algae? I have some growing on my live rock and my scarlet hermits won't touch it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Depends on the size of the tank what type of fish you might get to eat it, however that will not solve the problem. Sounds like you might have a nutrient problem so you will have to pin it down. Post your water paramiters, could be high nitrtates or phosphates or both. It could also be a lighting problem.

Thomas, have not seen you in a long time! But he is right. Getting a fish to eat your hair algae is putting a bandaid on the problem. It is better to solve the problem so you do not have hair algae. I know for me it helped to cut down on the amount I was feeding my fish, added a clean up crew and then pulled out what I could. That and time could help your problem.

the quick fix i used to control my hair algae was by "renting" a sea hare. within a week, it mowed down 80% of it. i figured out what my problems was- no set photo period and i was using tap for water changes. i fixed those 2 problems and i have not had any more hair algae growth; just some residual which will eventually go away...
