the male has a fin on it like a firefish does.
the glass bottle is because they are such docile eaters. did you see how his tangs were trying to eat the food? without the bottle they wouldn't have a chance to eat in peace

well there was just one spotted mandarin that has been in there since feb. i droped the green one in yesterday and the spotted one started nippin at it soon clinchin on it with its mouth. then the spotted dragged the green into the CBS cave. and the cbs tore it up. then all my nassarous snails went on it.

i'd definitely move them together, and make sure you have a male/female of same species

Don't get 2 males together. Male and female or females if your tank is established enough (pods). If you have a wrasse he may pic at them bc of food competition. I have seen multiples in a seahorse tank that do awesome.

Male mandarins are very territorial... females you can keep in groups of about three with no problem. But unless one male is distinctly larger than the other they will fight for dominance. The way they fight is to attach themselves to the others tail and drag him around until he dies. So basically whoever gets the others tail first wins. If you see them do this separate them immediately.
