Afew hundred pods will last about a day in a small tank with no fuge, what size tank and does it have a refuguim? It needs pods even if its eating mysis shrimp.

Mandarins can and will eat some mysis. Mysis does not have the nutrition that they need though. They can eat mysis every day and still slowly die from malnutrition. They NEED to eat copepods daily.

i tried one of mandrains from my lfs and it didnt make it. then they had a green one that they said was eating prepared food so i thought i would go ahead and try it and i got her several months ago and she is eating really well and very plump.
are the green ones easier to care for ????

Having alot of LR isn;t enough to keep a manarin. You need a safe place like a fuge for the pods to breed. Yrs ago I had a scooter blenny in a 75 gal with no fuge. It took a yy almost, but my scooter starved to death. i thought they ate strictly algae, so lesson learned here.
