green star pollyps

i have thes green star pollyups and they are growing wildly in my tank. how do i cut them, or break them apart so i can take some of them out and not ruin the part i want to keep?

I had some new growth on my green star polyps that I recently cut away. I simply got a pair of small sharp scissors and cut off what was hanging and laid it across another rock. No glue or anything. It's growing like crazy and attaching itself. A few days later I got the scissors back out and slowly pulled the base back like you're pulling a sticker off of something then snipped it off. (I didn't have a razor blade which would probably have worked to slice it off.) It is also doing VERY well.

I have both green stars and purple stars in my tank and theycare going crazy!!! I am constantly pullin pieces off and placing them else where. I love the little guys!!
