Green Star Polyp Question

I have had a GSP in my tank for almost a year now. The first few months I had it it looked ok, then I moved it and it exploded. Looked green and full and spread like crazy. It was that way for about 6 months. Then one day I added some calcium to my tank and poof it disapeared for a week. I did a water change and it kinda came back. Now for the last month it kinda comes out sometimes. Never fully out, and never full like it was. Is this a normal cycle for these things or what? I tested the water this morning and everything tested perfect. I have a 30g with a 130w orbit. Lights the same from the beginning and nothing has changes in the tank. Any suggestions?

Sometimes when there is an accumulation of sediment or algae on the matt of the star pollyp, it won't like it and refuse to come out. When this happened to mine, i took a baster / clean joe's juice syringe and shot some of the tank water on to the purple matt and blew off some junk that had accumulated. After a couple days mine was back out happier then ever.
