hey, i know what they are, but wha tare these red things on them? kinda look like those barnacle things...polyps are opening normaly...not spready as much as i would like, but........anyways...nothing comes outa them...they just sit there.......
um...i have to think about this, i think they were the first thing in my tank...mid feb?mid to late feb...
btw, good or bad? and yes, i look on my old photos that i took and dont see any sign of them....
The sponges are good, It's pretty neat to watch them form.
The polyps should have already opened. Mine only took a day or so and are spreading like wildflowers.

frozenguy,
I think they are tunicates or sea squirts, not sponges.
I agree with Kelly. They are Sea Squirts (a type of Sponge).
i dont know what that means....
do they eat anything? what do they do'? will they spread? will they kill anything?
why should i check my params? will they effect the params???
Your only hope is to box up the rock and overnight it to my address
Sea Squirts generally eat phytoplankton and/or bacteria. They are harmless filter feeders. Enjoy them
It is hard to tell about the size they will grow to. They come in manyl different sizes and colors, just wait and see what happens. I am not aware of them being a problem.
