Weird. I have three groupls of Green start polyps. two lower and one upper. The upper group always were doing really really well. Better than the lower groups. Now, The lower ones are doing great and the upper one wont even open up? Has anyone ever have them just quit coming out? Nothing has changed in my tank that I can tell. All my levels are 0 that need to be and all other coral are doing great.

Mine have closed up for over a week before. I got worried and was trying to figure out what needed to be fixed. Then, slowly more and more of it began to open. It had been going great ever since then.
As long as your tests are good and nothing seems to be bothering it, I would give it some time.

yep, mine close up if you stare at them too hard, God forbid a fish or hermit get near. They stay closed anywhere from hours to days. I dont even consider myself having GSP.

LOL :hilarious
I was thinking of trying to invent a scooter dragonette protective cage on mine. He'll plop right down in the middle of the GSP and roll his eyes around in his head while they shrink away into their purple tubes.

That could be it. If I touch one little spot on my GSP, the whole mat will close up.

I have a huge colony of Green Star Polyps that do very well. Rarely they will close for more than a day. I also have mushrooms all around the polps as well as a couple of smaller mushrooms that the polyps have surrounded and they are now totally covered by the polyps during the day. I dont think its the mushrooms. I know mushrooms will secreet some substances sometimes but I dont see any issues with them near the GSP in my tank.

When I fragged my mushroom, my GSP which were growing and looking awsome closed up. Its been over 6+ weeks a few have disapeared and the remaining are still struggling to grow back.
