Green Toadstool Leather

My tank is a tall 37g and I have a 250W MH light. I thought my leather would thrive, but isn't . For awhile it was open and beautiful however after about a week the polyps haven't came out. I've moved it to a couple different positions in the tank in an effort to get it to come back out. Currently it is not in as direct light as it had been. For awhile it was bleaching and now it seems to have gained some of its green color back, but still won't come out. Any ideas on what I should do?
I'll post pictures when I get home.

I'm sure someone else with more experience will chime in but, I'd say more flow.
I've placed it in areas that have an ample amount of flow but I have also been told that it might have received too much light and that I should try to shade it for awhile.
