I just moved into my new house and had to move my 125 gal. tank. Ever since i moved it there is a green tint in the water and its been alittle over a month and hasnt went away. Will just water changes get rid of that or is there something i can add?

People have used UV filetrs to help and I also have a friend that used a diatom filter. I don't recommend turning of the light because the phyto will crash and it depletes 02.
Water chances don't always help unless they are very agressive because it it like harvesting phyto from a culture.... it just kind of keeps the "culture" going. But I've had peeps do a 100% waterchange to only have it return because some cells were in the water that remained behind... and the cyclke continued.

I used to have green water as well. There are a couple ways to fix the problem. A UV steralizer or simply add photosynthetic corals.

I asked my friend and he had this to say....
I have two of System 1 Pressure Filter, as well as regular Vortex Diatom filters. They work well to "polish" the water and remove debris from the water column....including green water. IMO the Vortex filters, while being a bit more of a pain to hook up, work much faster. But the System1 will do the job as well - but it may take a bit longer and require cleaning of the filter/changing of the diatom powder mid-way through the cleaning depending on how big the tank is... and how green the water is.

Do me a fav? Keep a record of what you do....water changes, the filter etc and how long it takes if it works? It's worked for others but I don't have personal experience with it. I would like to know how it progresses.

One other thing you should do is add more water flow if you have a few extra power heads laying around that will help with your problem. Just my 2 cents

i once had this issue in a freshwater cichlid tank. it was so green you couldn't see the fish. it happened overnight!
anyway, i shut the lights out and covered the tank for 3 days and it was over. i never checked for any die off, but everything fared the blackout fine.
this is not advice, just sharing an experience.
