we are living in the age in which the persuit of all values other than money, success, fame, glamour, has either been discredited, or destroyed. money, success, fame, glamour; for we are living in the age of the thing.

"We" are not. But then I don't idolize anything on TV... or rarely watch it. That's why they make video games ;)
Actually I'm just always in pursuit of my next meal and enjoying life.

Have you determined for yourself if this is a good or a bad thing?

I disagree! Indeed, there are many who persue these things.(money, fame, glamour) and there always have been people like this. They seem to beleive it will bring them happiness or make them feel complete, or give them a sense of belonging or meaning, etc. But it won't!!
To acheive happiness, completeness, belonging and meaning, you have to find that no matter your pre-conceived state in life. These attributes are better acheived thru, family, freinds, unconditional love, giving, and.....yes, I'm going to say it.....God! These are the persuits which will bring you peace!
They will allow you cherish the joyful moments, and give you a place to turn in hardship, letting you see the possibility of a brighter tomorrow!
And the ones who have figured that out,(and there are many) are far more rich than the before mentioned!! JMHO Amy

Not feeling sorry for myself, but thought I'd add a thought. After badly injuring my back 5 years ago, I have learned to cherish a day with pain that is tolerable. An hour with my wife that I'm not lying on the bed in excruciating agony. Being able just to make it through a day at work. Being able to spend time on the internet. I am in the pursuit of mere survival and sanity, which are both hard to come by. Sorry, but there's alot of folks like me out here, who are just trying to get by. We know we'll never get ahead or buy the newest and biggest whatever. If someone is successful and has acquired alot of cool stuff, good for them. I don't begrudge or envy achievers. Heck, I'm glad there are folks who have done well. I get to see their cool cars driving around. When I see folks doing well-with alot of cool stuff, I think it's great. We live in the greatest country on Earth.
