Just go to a hardware store buy some 3 prong plugs cut the two prong plugs off and have an electrician re wire them.. The ground really doesn’t have to be hooked up ...problem solved..

you could also buy the grounding rod that goes into the tank maybe they would accept this as a back up?

Wait they might be the opposite of what you need...still like my first idea better
yea thats the opposite of what he needs. those are go cords that have the grounding plug but the socket that does not have a hole for the grounding plug. that's why there is a little ring on the top. you put the screw for the face plate through that and it makes it grounded.

You obviously have never had to deal with OSHA. Trying to beat the system isn't a good idea. There are products that will work that will satisfy OSHA it just might cost her a $100 or so but not much more.
If they go over and take a look at her modified plugs, they will crucify her. And if you are a parent, how would you feel about a teacher putting electrically modified and potentially dangerous plugs around YOUR kids?

I have a couple of new developments. I plan to move my tank to another spot in my classroom to take advantage of more outlets. I'm also going to replace my filter and heater with an all in one unit. Anyone know about the Eheim Pro Thermofilter? I found the 3 prong heater right here at Saltwaterfish.com. They also have a grounding probe that our maintenance guy says we should try. Modifying the plugs won't work because they are using some ultra sensitive device to measure the stray voltage. I really can't try to get around OSHA. It would cost the school way too much in fines if I'm wrong. I really appreciate all the great responses. I will keep you all posted.

good to hear that all is not lost!
and for the Eheim Pro Thermo Filter i have a friend who uses it for a Freshwater Oscar tank and he loves it and says it does a great job. but i know no one who uses it for saltwater. but im sure it will work just fine if you keep it cleaned.
