Grouper Color Change?

Hey guys I just got a grouper fish. It's all orange in color and I believe was called a liger tail orange grouper or something of that nature. either way hes got four white dots on his body that go horizontally across that glow in the light. It's pretty cool. Anyways when he gets stressed or goes to sleep when the light goes off white patches show up on him. These go away quickly when he wants them to. I figure this is just some cool adaptation. I just got him a few days ago and now he is turning dark purple, like my black niger trigger? Is he trying to be like the trigger? There is only the grouper, the trigger, and a wolf eel in the tank. Is this color change normal? Or is he getting sick? He still eats like a pig. Thanks in advance.

The color change is very normal. Groupers are known to change their colors when they are stressed, aggressive, or just when they are trying to blend in with things. I would not worry about the color change whatsoever.

My Arcos gets two vertical white stripes on his sides after he eats and depending on his mood??? he will change from a purplish red to white.
