Grouper question

Have any of you had your groupers ever take a liking to flake food? Mine does and seems to try to eat anything I throw in. Not that I am complaining, makes feeding easier.

I feed mine off of frozen foods. Ive actualy never heard a grouper being fed by commercianal foods. Are you sure it gets his nutrition needs?

I have had groupers that will eat just about anything (including my fingers if I put them in there for him). I would probably start mixing frozen food into his diet a lot more though. The flake food is probably not filling him up very much at all. Some frozen prawn, krill, shrimp, or silversides will fill his stomach a lot more. Flakes are for fish that have smaller stomaches (clowns, blennies, and sometimes tangs will nibble at flakes)

I believe some groupers would eat potato chips, chips ahoy, kit kat bars and wash it all down with a beer. If it will fit in their mouth they will at least try it..

mine would only eat frozen foods at first. after 2 months he started eating 'New Life Spectrum Marine Fish Formula' pellets I was feeding the other fish in the tank so now he eats both.

Thanks for the replies, due to the fish variety in my tank, 2 groupers, a dwarf lion, two tangs, 4 different gobies, a clarkii, and a molly I have to feed a varied diet to the tank.
I use, Krill, silversides, brine shrimp (on occassion), flake, pellet, formula 1&2, seaweed, and the occassional clam or shrimp.
I rotate all of this. So the groupers get their meat. Yesterday was the first time I saw the grouper eat the flake though which is why I asked if anyone else had ever seen it done. I never see my other grouper eat but he is twice the size of the other one. So he must be eating sometime.

I've never seen a molly. Thats wierd. I know what it looks like in my tank (its in my 10 gallon freshwater) but how can it be a saltwater fish. Must see!:D

It's not a freshwater fish at all. It is actually a brackish fish which grows up into a saltwater enviroment. I have one in my tank as well.
