I bought the entire tank from a guy who lives about a ten minute drive away, we moved the tank, fish, everything last Saturday, move completed within about 4 hours, including bringing in the LFS trailer full of filtered NSW.
Grouper had been fed once per day, fresh blue prawns from the supermarket. That's exactly what I'm trying to feed him. I put it under water and squash it between my finges, to get a scent into the water, tried hand feeding (A bit nerve racking with those little needle teeth!), dropping it onto his nose, everything. I tried some squid and some small silversides as well, but no luck. I was thinking about maybe dropping in a small feeder or something - but I'd prefer not to...
Temp is around 24C, sg is 1.021, amm, nitrite are zero, ph is about 8.0. I'm slowly bringing it up with sodium bi-carb....

For live you can try ghost shrimp, feed the ghost shrimp something nutritional first, you can also try brine shrimp, mysis, raw shrimp, even scallops.

the feeder might help initiate a feeding response and adjust to its suroundings and releave the stress from moving

Can I use F/W fish as feeders? Just for the short term? I don't want to use them as regular diet, just to encourage him to eat. S/W fish around here are hard to get, and expensive. If I could get away with neons or guppies or similar I could do that tomorrow.....
One week since the move and he still hasn't eaten

a cheap fish like a neon would be better than feeder goldfish because they are usually maintained better and more likely disease free. short term you will be fine just continually try to get it to eat dead as soon as posssible. once its eating live you can prekill what you are feeding it a wiggle it around with a feeder stick to try to get it to eat dead and slowly feed it more dead things from the stick

usually a $1-$2 fish in nj but the idea was a cheap fish that isnt a feeder goldfish because they are maintained better

Looks like a trip to the LFS tomorrow - I've used neons before, for feeding to Oscars because of the same reasons - feeder fish carry too many diseases IMO. They're not that expensive here anyway, probably about the cheapest fish available. Still not eating, although I thought for a minute tonight that he was going to...He must be getting hungry....

He's eating! I had a few damsels behind a divider, and I was that worried about his not eating last night I "Sacrificed" them to him. They swam around safely last night, but were gone this morning. Don't know if it was the grouper that ate them, or the V.lion, or both, but I dropped a small cube of frozen marine food, "Fish Dinner" I think it's called, in there, and he ate it. Still turning his nose up at squid prawns and silversides, but at least he is eating SOMETHING!
