Kinda plain so far. Still waiting on the new lights. This is my old 4-110 VHO setup. Also waiting on the new Koralia #3's. Altered my old W/D to hold a sock, but I'm still building my new sump. It will hold the sock, skimmer, and a small chaeto refuge area. No sand or rock in the fuge. And I'm going bare bottom on this tank.
100 lbs. of LR so far and it looks like I need another 50. The LR was allready cured and the water has allready been cycled. This weekend I'll get some turbo's for CUC.

Yep, I can't stand the sand/detritus getting stirred up whenever I clean the glass. Plus I'm hoping it will cut down on nitrates. Time will tell I guess. I figure if the skimmer is good enough, along with the sock, it will keep it pretty clean.
This will be mostly a SPS, LPS, clams, and few softies as far as corals. I want to keep the fish bio-load down to 5-7 fish.

ooohhhh yyeeaaaaa!!!!, looking good, awesome, very simple i see, i do have several reefs up, different environments etc, but i got to say that my too, oh I'm sorry , three reef tanks that's BB are the best health looking corals I've ever had, I got a few pointers from DaddyJax over at ReefCentral on the SPS keepers, people that are obsessed with SPS, haha, like me, lol.

i do got to add in the past by keeping live sand, which i love, got have those animals that need it like carpets etc, well the sand would get sturd up, power heads knocked down sturring up sand all over corals, some really don't like it and get pissed and throw up etc,,,lol.
and so on, i believe with enough rock, it should be good for bacteria level wise, my opinion.

That's what mine is..Euro Reef. I just got it up and running last night. The trates were at 20ppm last night due to LR die off. Hopefully the skimmer will pull alot of that out in the next couple of days. I'll do a 10 gallon water change Friday.

Right now I'm shooting for 48" Outer Orbit 2-250 HQI w/4-54 T5 actinic, 18 LED. Also going with 2-Azoo 4 fan cooling banks to keep it cool. I have a used chiller, but not sure if it works yet.

I like bare bottom tanks.
Just a suggestion but I've seen bare bottom tanks with the rocks on pvc stands to get flow under the rocks. TX Reef has one I think. Pretty cool.

I placed the rock so the bottom layer is kinda sitting on points for that same effect. I'm putting a Koralia 1 behind the rock for extra flow.

sweet, your going with some power there with those lights, i'm shore it can handle having what ever corals you want in there, going SPS huh, can't wait to see it going.

Looking good! I think my next tank will be BB too. Did you think about using starboard to give the glass some protection from the rocks?

Fedel- I just ordered the light. And 2-Koralia #4 and 1-Koralia #2. The #2 is for added flow low behind the rockwork. I know, I know, I should have gotten Tunze's.

GatorWPB- Thanks. The starboard sounds like a good idea.

what is your flow rate and what are you using for flow??...i have heard bare bottom is easier to care for and clean especially when you vaccum the bottom during a water change and strong flow will help pick up debri and help it down the overflow
