So I finally went ahead and took the bio-media out of one side of my millenium 3000 filter and put a small piece of rubble rock inside and a handful of chaeto. I tried a few different lights and positions prior to the current posistion. Currently I am using a 13 watt floresent light blub (the type the screw in place of a regular light bulb) mounted behind the filter. I tried mounting it above the filter but I ran into too many problems. Anyways the filter is translucent so I am hoping enough light gets through to grow the algae. I am currently running the bulb 24 hours straight. My questions are:
1. Is it best to run light 24 hours, just at night, or just durning the day?
2. How quickly should I notice the growth of the chaeto?
3. I also put some chaeto in my display and so far none of my inhabitants have harrassed it so would it be ok to leave it there?
