growth on snail shell

I have a cerith snail that seems to have some flowery looking thing growing on its shell. It was very small at first but now is more than 1/4 inch taller and getting thicker. I will try to get a picture if I can to add. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Could be a sponge I have a couple of snails with them growing on their shells

Is it green with kind of pinkish tips?

No it is a dark brown

How old is your tank. It could just be alge growin on it??? or cyno???

My tank is 3 months old

I have what sounds like the same thing, I thought it was hair algae.
