Grrr... power outages

So the power at the church went out last night... no idea why.. but both projectors always turn themselves on in the sanctuary so I know it at least popped on and off.
Anyway, the GFI wall plug popped too. It shut off the power to everying on my tank... From the light timers it looks like the power was out for about 9 hours.
MIA's so far: Flametail Blenny, 2 Spotted Wrasse, Blue Reef Chromis. I'm hoping they are just hiding out in the rock from stress, but the tank was clearly O2 poor when I came in and found it.
Anyway, do they make some kind of emergency test thing that can tell you when something like this happens and auto call you or something???

I think you could probably rig up a bubbler to come on when power goes out. You'd have to do some research.

The bubbler would be running all the time if it were hooked up to a standard battery backup. And you wouldn't want that. Maybe a powerhead or two.

I use a battery backup plus the automatic air bubblers that only come on when power is off. They are the best and only like $12.00. I have 2 maxi-jets and the air bubblers plugged into the backup. The lights and skimmer plugged into the surge only side of the battery backup. When the power fails the backup runs my 2 maxijets for 6 hours then dies and shuts off. When it shuts off the air bubblers start. The bubblers have now ran 15 days on the same set of batteries (lost power due to Hurricane Wilma). Every few days I hook a power inverter to my car and run the skimmer and lights for a few hours.

Thanks all... I'm not an electrician, but I'm willing to learn.
In a good turn, all of my tankmates have been accounted for. Looks like I dodged a serious bullet.

I was reading up about the Neptune Aquacontroller and I read somewhere that it is capable of emailing you in the event of a power failure plus some other cool features. Still in the process of reading all of the features.

what we did (or attempted to do, but we left the laptop cord at home).
we set up a webcam to the tank in the living room, focused on the temp strip, if the temp went up, then we knew the ac was out. Which is what we were worried about. To check if power is out, we just check to see if our webpage is up.
Another way, I used to call home, if I got the answering mechine with my voice I knew all was well, if I didn't get the answering mechine, then power was out, if I got answering mechine with auto voice, then power was out but was back on.
