Grrrrr....

Rearranged my rock and it looked worse than it did...did it again and it looks even crappier. How do you guys do it? Mine always looks like a brick wall because I have so many big pieces. If I space them out, they fall... and fall...and fall

A hammer and chisel (Which may or may not look a lot like a screwdriver) will do wonders in making your big rock smaller rock. That is only if you want to. Usually the rock we use is pretty soft and very easy to break.
Then again one thing I learned long ago is that not matter how many times you take your rock apart, it NEVER goes back the same way.

I did the same thing the other day. I moved one rock and everything started to shift. I got so mad I had to walk away and let my husband do it. He has no sence of style LOL he just stacks without even trying to make any sort of design. I do admit however, that it looked pretty good when he got finished and it was much sturdier!Ours looks like a wall too. We also have a 55. I don't think there is much else you can do with that narrow of a tank unfortunately.

Keep in mind that the coral you buy may already be attached to smaller pcs. of rock also. I think your rock looks okay, plenty of open space and holes for the fish to swim through. The only thing I would caution you on is how close to the sides the rock is. Can you get in there to clean the glass?

55s are a pita to aquascape. Really all you can do is stack it vertically.
I redid mine a few months ago and this is what I came up with. I wanted to get away from a single mound along the back wall. It's hard to see, but there is a gap between the center and right formation.

Remember, you're looking at a pile of rocks in a tank of water

Make your rock work functional. Spaces, good flow, etc. Let nature, and the inverts you add, make it look good.

It is definetly hard to do anything but a wall in a 55 since they are so narrow. My 55g is a room divider so I needed a design that looked good from 3 sides which is even more difficult so I opted for a wall that sits in the middle of the tank I have about 3 inches all the way around so I can reach the glass to clean it.

See...I really like yours.

**Goes to give it another try**

I think it looks good. Remember once you start doing coral and zoo's and give a year or 2, it will look awesome. It is a time thing...
