grrrrrr viruses!!

i think i got a virus on my computer a few days ago! the past few days i have had tons of pop ups, my homepage keeps automatically changing to msn homepage, overall computer is running slow, if i can get things to open at all!! i read about that sasser worm and tried to download the fix for that, but it said that's not what i have. looks like i will have to format.:mad: :mad:

I got the type of viruses that gets your comp to restart and restart again and again last week. And even if formatted my computer, it was still there. Took over a week to fully recover right now. Maybe you can go to microsoft page to download a few anti-viruses programs.

just back y our data up (this will be a pain in the ass) then format and protect yourself better

Go to add/remove programs as well and look for anthing unusual like adware or bargain buddy.

Before you reformat try the following:
Download Ad-Aware and Spybot. They scan your computer for miscellaneous files and cookies that are "junk" and will remove them. Run one and then run the other because one will pick up "junk" that the other misses. All of the computers I am responsible for have both programs installed. I am willing to bet money that if you ran these programs, you would fix the problem.
If you do indeed have the sasser worm, download the patch of the net (I have it if you want it). If you have the worm, this patch will find it and remove it. I'll provide you the instructions if you decide you want it.
Again, I would bet money that ad-aware and spybot would solve a lot of your problems.

we have pc cillian that we says there are no viruses. my husband is going to reformat my comp anyways and the get some better anti virus prgrams on here.

Now run ad-aware. There's really no need to reformat it unless you still have the problems after running these programs.
