i was planning on getting a green star polyp that i was hoping my clowns would take to. i read though, that they spread and grow very quickly and will take over the tank.
is this true? and is it easy to control once it starts taking off?
thanks :)

Yeah, just start turning rocks over, or trade them for bare ones. LOL that practically what I did. now everyone I know w/saltwater has GSP's. they are VERY fast growers, and they will bridge from one rock to another in just a few days. Great coral, and very hardy. They are a great filler for those in-between spaces also. I recommend them for everyone.

I had them a while back and I placed them on the top touching the back glass and they spread up the glass. They got about the size of a dinner plate when my ballast burned up and the lights were out for about 4 days. They all died. Now I have new ones and am trying the same thing.

Find a flat rock and put it up on three other rocks as we have done. Then when they overgrow the rock you cut some off and sell them to your LFS. Works great! Here you can see our perks thinking they are hiding in the GSP.

thanks everyone, i think i'll go for it :cheer:
i have a nice flat rock at the top, but there is a ric on it and xenia very close by, do ya think that will be ok or should i find another location?

Salt-e,
There are actually two perks in the picture. One is above the 2 on the ruler and the other one is above the nine. They love swimming through it and the GSP doesn't seem to mind them at all.

thanks again, i think i spotted another rock i could possibly put it on, still close to a xenia, but nothing else.
i posted another thread and didnt get a reply, i want to add a gsp, royal gramma & a sally lightfoot. still need to spend $10 more and not sure if i should get another coarl, fish or just inverts. any opinions?

i have been buying the "ravenous" algae eaters cuz i have so much algae. all the different sites say they are reef safe, then after i get them i hear the horror stories. i was gonna get a fighting conch and didnt know if i should get the aquacultured or not so i skipped it and got the snails.
i was looking at the decorator crab also, but wasnt sure, and when posted on the sally nobody else said anything bad and on another website was recommened it.
as for the monster here is a pic, hard to see but you can see the claws on this thing. i was going to use a water bottle trap someone else here recommended but have yet to find one with a big enough mough for him to fit in. now he has moved and i havent seen him in a couple of days.
i think i posted on him when you were on your trip.
thanks for your help:happyfish

thanks waterfaller
and from your reply i am assuming it dosnt matter if the conchs are aquacultured or not, i guess i was leaning towards these because according to this site they are smaller i am concerned about rocks tumbling down if they get under them in the sand bed.
if i dont hear back as i said i will assume it dosnt matter which ones. :happyfish
have a good st pattys day :)
