The big reef actually has several nice corals, not just the little ones they first had. I love the tank with the video camera in it. It is covered in Ricordea Yuma ( at least thats what it looked like to me!)

They sure had a bunch of yellow tangs. That is the biggest aquarium I ever seen. It must be awesome up close. When I lived in Minnesota I went to Underwater World, In The Mall Of America. It was cool, but no reef. I live in Northern California now. I need to make a trip to San Francisco and check out Monterey Bay Aquarium.

i was there last weekend, and ive got to say that this place was absolutely awesome!!! the reef seems to have been in the midst of some algae outbreak and everything was a brownish tint... other than that everything looked amazing. only thing that i think they could do better is to limit the amount of people in the building. i know that they require reservations for a certain time, but there are just way too many people in there all the time. also i think they need to ban strollers from the building as they are just too many people for that... anyways the place is a must see for anyone who hasnt yet been!!!

Yeah I think that is their main attraction. I think they are the only place in the US with them in captivity. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I think my brother can get discounted tickets if anyone is interested. I can't quote the price but if anyone is interested I will check with him. And this will not be an auction or anyway for me to make money because I will charge exactly what he gets them for plus the stamp fee. Well on the other hand there may be a $10 handling charge ... just kidding

One last thing. He mentioned that he could get discount tickets 2 weeks ago. Not sure if that was a one time deal or if he is getting them through work. Just mention if you are ineterested and I will check. No need to send me your email address yet.

I went in Jan and I loved it! As time goes on they will be adding many more Corals. Right now some of them are concrete. The owner has travailed the world looking at other Aquariums and found the School children get in the way of the public so he has it set up so the field trips don't inter fear with the public. "One of the unique features of the Georgia Aquarium is the Learning Loop. Research and education make up 25% of the facility. The Learning Loop is located entirely separate from the general public area with its own entrance, lunchroom and five wet labs, giving school groups the opportunity to focus on the lessons at hand. " The beluga whales came from Mexico and Coney Island amusement parks. They were moved from underneath the roller costers. The Whale Sharks came from the Orient.
I would eat before going in, do to the cost of food and there is a 20 min 3D movie called Deepo that cost a extra $5.00 but it's cute. You need to spend about 4 to 5 hrs to see everything. And as Jasonj75 said the strollers are a pain in the butt! Most people take a look at the fish and then move on. So there isn't much of a wait to get to the front so you can study everything. When I went there was no wait to get in. Ticket prices for the Georgia Aquarium are as follows: Adult annual passes are $59.50, Child annual passes are $43.25, and Senior annual passes are $48.75. General admission tickets are $22.75 for adults, $17 for children, and $19.50 for senior citizens. Group rates are $20.50 for adults, $15.50 for children, and $17.50 for seniors. Note that the Georgia Aquarium defines children as people ages 3-12, and senior citizens as people 55 and older. Plus you will most likely have to pay about $10.00 for parking.
The trip is worth every penny!

They aren't selling annual passes anymore. If yo have one food prices aren't that bad. I don't think anything is as expensive as it could be. There are definatly school kids everywhere. The field trips are not secluded. IT is actually really annoying to have kids pushing you around. I just wanted to slap them. I can't wait for our class to go, but seeing how we are High School Seniors I don't think we really count as field trip kids.
