I think I've broken just about every RULE when it comes to being a novice marine aquarist! Here's my list:
Rushing the Nitrogen Cycle - Guilty
Overstocking - Guilty
Overfeeding - ( Guilty but remedied )
Not Quarantining New fish - Guilty
Placing fish in most likely to fight - Guilty
Placing medicine in the Main Tank - Guilty
Not setting up a Quarantine tank ( Guilty but remedied ).
Cleaning the Filters after the initial cycle thus causing another ammonia spike - Guilty
Buying Fish on Impulse without research - Guilty
Buying Corals on impulse without research - Guilty
Buying Anenomes and thinking I can maintain them - Guilty
Having an insufficient lighting ( Guilty but remedied )
Wanting to buy a new "larger" tank now - Gallonitis - Guilty!
I think there needs to be more rules in this hobby. I'm sure I've broken a lot of em that I probably don't even know about yet.
Still trying to learn....

LOL... I think I'm guilty to all of those too... Thanks to this site most of my errors have been remedied, except for the adding medicine to main tank in my 20(Its now a forced FOWSULR---Fish Only With Screwed Up Live Rock---tank.) :D

OK how about the reverse side of the coin. Can you list any thing that because of someone elses mistake that you were able to avoid making because you were warned first. Or did you make the mistake and were told. "I could have told you not to do that"

They say - Even a fool learns from his own mistakes. A wise man however, learns from the mistakes of others....well in this case, I'm probably more the fool...
