handguns are not the prime choice for self defense of the home. If someone wanders into my house in the middle of the night, they wont see me pointing any handgun at them. A nice shotgun where i dont even have to aim will be the choice.
I own handguns because they are fun to shoot, not for self defence.
they do become the prime weapon for committing crimes because of the ease of concealment. Removing them from public ownership would only stop normal people from having them. A criminal would still get them and nothing would change from a criminals perspective.

Best self defense weapon I know off is a Double barrel 12 gauge one loaded with Double ought Buckshot the other is loaded with Rocksalt. The rocksalt is to make the scream yet it will hurt them also. If that does not get them on the floor in pain the next one is to kill.

I don't know, pretty likely they will survive the shotgun; then you can get sued and they would win (already happened ~ couldn't prove self-defense). Me I want something they aren't going to walk away from ~ even if you miss a vital area, the shock of being shot with a .45 is liable to kill you. Then its your word against a corpse as far a what went down.

if they ban guns the only people that it would effect are the law abideing citizens , the law breakers are not going to hand them over.
I think everyone should have a 6 shooter on them at all times the crime rate would drop dramaticly

the 2nd Amendment I think was for the purpose to form militias in a time when there was no police force to enforce the law.... I don't think it was the intent for all citizens to have guns if there was a protective force in all communities...
But some politicians want to reduce the use of gun violence... and less guns is a way to reduce gun deaths.. especially handguns...
When people look at this they don't consider the problem urban areas have, and think of their own personal use of guns...
This is an issue that is like Roe vs Wade... valid arguments on both sides... with no clear winners...
We need to make it more difficult for criminals to get guns... and provide better education and training for gun owners....
But some politicians want to reduce the use of gun violence... and less guns is a way to reduce gun deaths.. especially handguns...
