Had an ACCIDENT...help!

Was removing my fug. lighting and dropped it into the water by accident. Removed right away. But I just noticed that my polyp corals(star polyps, finger leather, etc) look withered. Will they make it?
My other corals (torch, hammer, clove, mushrooms) look good as usual and so do my fish.

Not sure, you might have sent a bit of current through the water, but there really isn't anything you can do about it now.
Make sure you clean all the light fixtures and conections that may get damgaged by the saltwater, if you can save the light that you droped.

The corals could just be withdrawing because of the lighting and water current changes. Mine will shrink up when I put my hand in the tank. They "know" these things. :D
If you built up some current in your water you may try grounding your water with a titanium grounding rod. This will disapate any built up charge.

How do I know if there is any built up charge? And where do I find a grounding rod?

Kip...you never answered my question "will they make it?" It sucks, those poylps were really starting to spread.
What kind of grounding probe am I looking for...any particular make?

yeh, I know, tough question. Just thought that you might know of similar experience. No popping sound, no breaker trip, no sparks. This happened in my fug., so no physical damage.
Does voltage affect any parameters...water chemistry? I freaked when this happened and really didn't take a thorough look around to see if the corals were ok as soon as it happened. I only noticed about 20 min. after I added DT's. Could the DT's,if bad, cause any coral affects? It was a flood light that fell in;no wires exposed;so maybe it just blew the fixture and no voltage was induced. What do you think?

Does that website actually sell stuff...I thought it was purely informative. The only link I see is to a competitor is one where the owner is being sued...who in their right mind would buy from that company?? :)

Do a google search on aquarium grounding rods. Some fish stores sell them and you can find them on ----.

Kip, do you discourage the use of DT's? I thought that stuff was supposed to be great? Please expand on your thought.

UPDATE!!!! Corals seem to be coming around. So far toadstool looks better and brown stars are looking much better also. I guess time will tell with the green stars and the devils hand.
:joy:
Talking about DT's and algae. I get a light, brownish film on my glass, in spots, every other day, which I clean off with a magnet. Why brown and not green? Is brown diatoms?
