Does anyone know anything about these? My lfs loves these things for some reason, they even have healthy clams under them, and I was wondering if there was anything to it, or just their experience. The way it works is its a double light ballast with reflector that has your choice of a variety of bulbs. They recommended the high output and actinic bulbs.

I just purchased the 24 in. version this past weekend, one 6700k bulb and one actinic both 24 watts. I will take some pictures a little later.

What do you plan on keeping under them? Do you feel this is a good investment? They seemed to think these are superior to other T5s and even MH quality

I picked up my first coral yesterday, a pulsing xenia. I am just getting into reefs so I wanted to see how the xenia did under the lights before I tried to add anything else. As far as investment wise, the price was reasonable when compared to ordering online when you factor in shipping charges.

I was going to order the Nova extreme fixture, they are exactly the same wattage and size as the Glo fixture. I was looking to upgrade my lighting from a single 18 watt NO fluorecent and this was a much improved step up. The Glo fixture has a single reflector for the 2 bulbs and is very bright.

I am really torn with this decision. The people in the store are all gung-ho over these lights. Anyone with any experience with them?

It is a 29 gallon tank, sorry the pic is so bad, I took it with my cell phone. The light is really nice, it brightens up the entire room, I will try to get a better pic with my digital camera when I get home from work.

At the risk of soundling like a snob you get what you pay for. The Nova is not a good T5 system. That doesn't make it a "bad" light, just don't expect it to do what the quality equipment does.
Tha hagen is probably in the same class as the Nova. I wouldn't compare either to the output of metal halides.

Totally agree with reefraff. In the world of t5, if it doesn't have individual reflectors, you're wasting your money. I already made that mistake myself. I have odyssea cheapo ho t5s, there's 2 reflectors for 4 bulbs, big mistake. I can keep the softies just fine, but I should've just spent the extra dough and got a real high output t5 fixture. Aquactinics, Tek, or Icecap components...everything else is junk, I learned the hard way. I tried to make that sound as least as snobbish as possible.

I wouldnt count either as snobby. The point in the question (and these boards) is to learn from others experiences to help save money and avoid bad experiences. Good info like that could save a lot in the long run.
